Sisu 2: Road to Revenge (2025) – All Action, Almost No Story

Sisu 2: Road to Revenge (2025) – All Action, Almost No Story

Sisu: Road to Revenge (2025), directed by Jalmari Helander, is basically the first Sisu on repeat—our unkillable Finnish gold miner Aatami Korpi (Jorma Tommila) is back, this time taking revenge on the Soviets who murdered his family. Tiny plot, zero dialogue from the hero, and non-stop absurd action from start to finish. If you loved the first one for its crazy kills, you’ll probably enjoy this. For me? It got old fast. 5/10—some fun moments, but mostly bored and frustrated.

Sisu 2 (2025) The Plot: Revenge, Finnish Style

Aatami is dismantling his old family house (where the Reds killed everyone) to rebuild it somewhere safe. But the brutal Red Army commander who did the deed (Stephen Lang) tracks him down to finish the job. What follows is a cross-country chase full of explosions, impossible stunts, and Aatami killing dozens of Soviets in the most over-the-top ways imaginable.

That’s literally it. No real story, no character development, almost no talking. Just revenge.

What Worked (A Little)

Sisu 2: Road to Revenge (2025) – All Action, Almost No Story

  • The second half, especially the train sequence, finally got my attention. Some creative, eye-popping action there.
  • It’s clearly cathartic for Finns—Nazis in the first movie, Communists in this one. Historical revenge fantasy on the big screen. I get the appeal.
  • Jorma Tommila is still badass as the silent, unstoppable Korpi.

What Didn’t Work for Me

Sisu 2: Road to Revenge (2025) – All Action, Almost No Story

  • First half is repetitive boredom. Same kills, same absurdity we already saw in Sisu 1. Nothing new.
  • The action is so unbelievable it’s absurd—like tanks flying over barricades. Fun once, ridiculous the tenth time.
  • Plot is basically zero. No meaning, no depth, no surprises. Just “kill bad guys because history.”
  • If you want a real story or characters, look elsewhere.

Ratings and Critical Reception

Sisu 2: Road to Revenge (2025) – All Action, Almost No Story

  • IMDb: 7.0/10 (12,000 votes)
  • Rotten Tomatoes: 95 % critics (92 reviews) / 88 % audience

Critics love the wild action and call it a worthy sequel. Audiences mostly agree. Box office weaker than the first ($9.5M on $12.2M budget), but still positive vibes overall. My 5/10 is definitely colder than most.

Final Take: Pure Absurd Revenge Action – Take It or Leave It

★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆ (5/10)

At 5/10, Sisu: Road to Revenge is exactly what the title says—revenge, loud and bloody. If you want brain-off, over-the-top kills and don’t mind zero plot, you’ll have a blast. If you need story, meaning, or anything fresh… skip it. I won’t be rewatching.

And suggest my next watch—after this I need something with actual plot, maybe more historical war drama.

If this honest take helped, like, follow, share. See you in the next one!
