Now You See Me: Now You Don’t (2025) – Fun Flashy Magic, But Same Old Tricks
Now You See Me: Now You Don’t (2025), directed by Ruben Fleischer, started with a bang and totally grabbed me—big illusions, fast cuts, classic Horsemen energy. I enjoyed it overall, but man, the excitement goes up and down like a rollercoaster that keeps stopping for planning breaks. When it’s hot, it’s really hot. When it’s planning the next trick… I started checking my phone. Still a solid, entertaining 7/10—perfect if you just want flashy, brain-off fun with cool magic gadgets.
The old Four Horsemen crew is back (plus new faces Ariana Greenblatt, Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa) for another “rob the bad guys with magic” mission, this time targeting criminals who made their fortune from old war crimes.
The Plot: Highs, Lows, and Too Many Characters
Diamond heist → reunion → big stage shows → secret magician house full of insane gadgets → long planning scenes → final act → repeat.
That’s basically the rhythm. Every time they’re on stage or pulling off something impossible, I’m grinning like a kid. Every time they sit around explaining the next step… the energy drops hard. The new young magicians are cool, but there are too many characters and almost zero development for most of them. If you never saw the first two movies, you’ll probably feel a little lost.
What I Loved
- The actual magic sequences and gadgets are awesome (that secret magician mansion is pure eye-candy).
- Flashy visuals, quick cuts, fun vibe—exactly what you want from this series.
- Light, entertaining, rewatchable when you’re in the mood for zero brain cells.
What Bugged Me
- Up-and-down pacing: big high → long boring planning → high again → planning again.
- Story is basically the same as the previous movies: rob evil rich people with magic, expose them, disappear. Feels repetitive.
- War-crimes fortune villain plot is super cliché.
- Too many new characters, not enough screen time to care about any of them.
- Some script holes and “yeah okay sure” moments (can’t say more without spoilers).
Ratings and Critical Reception
- IMDb: 6.2/10 (19,000 votes)
- Rotten Tomatoes: 61 % critics (138 reviews) / 81 % audience
- Box office: $192 million on $90 million budget → another win for the franchise
Most people agree: better than part 2, still not as fresh as the first one.
Final Verdict: Perfect Light Weekend Watch
At 7/10, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t is exactly what it promises: flashy magic heist fun with zero depth. If you loved the first two, you’ll have a good time. If you want groundbreaking twists or deep characters, look somewhere else. Great for when you just want to turn your brain off and go “whoa, how did they do that?!”
What did you think of Now You See Me 3? Did the pacing bother you too, or were the magic scenes enough to carry it? Drop your thoughts below!
And suggest my next movie—after this I’m craving either more heist fun or something with actually shocking twists.
